Gymnastics class structure
A typical gymnastics class begins with warm-up activities including games, cardio exercises related to gymnastics, and stretching. Each class follows a rotation through equipment with skill based circuits. These activities will vary from class to class and week to week to ensure well-rounded gymnastics instruction. Classes may also include cool-down activities and conditioning (strength-building) exercises. Each gymnast is supported in developing and progressing at their own pace.
SAFETY FIRST policy
The best interest of every child will always be our first priority at Revolution Sports Centre. Please understand that in order to adhere to this policy, we reserve the right to remove any participant from our programs that may hinder their own development or the development of the other children in our facility by way of their inappropriate behaviour. Our hope is that everyone fully enjoys the time they spend in our facility.
What to wear
- Athletes must have their hair that reaches the eyes tied back, remove all jewellery (earring studs are okay), and participate barefoot for safety. Please wear comfortable athletic clothing such as a t-shirt and shorts, leggings, a gym suit, or a leotard.
- Shirts should be form-fitting and long enough to stay tucked in during activity. For safety reasons, we ask that athletes avoid wearing jeans, clothing with buttons, zippers, drawstrings, hooded sweaters, skirts, dresses, or items with large embellishments, as these may damage equipment or increase the risk of injury.
- For younger athletes, we recommend bringing an extra change of clothes in case of bathroom accidents.
- Please send a full water bottle clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Gym rules
- Hair that reaches the eyes must be securely tied back before class.
- For safety reasons, gymnasts should not wear jewellery during class.
- Children are not permitted on the gym floor or on any gym equipment, unless supervised by a coach.
- Gymnasts must wait until their class is called before entering the gym.
- Parents and guardians are asked to remain off the gym floor. If your child needs assistance finding their class, please speak with a supervisor.
- Families are welcome to watch from the viewing area. The only exceptions are Parent & Tots and Tots Drop-In classes, where a parent or guardian participates alongside the child.
- Siblings in the viewing area and front lobby must be supervised at all times.
- If a child becomes disruptive during class, they may be asked to sit out briefly. If the behaviour continues, the coach will speak with the parents or guardians to determine an appropriate solution.
- For your child’s safety, please walk your gymnast into and out of the building during drop-off and pick-up.
